Customer quickstarts

Every sellable SKU needs a versioned first-use path.

These draft quickstarts turn product scope into customer package-insert language. They stay draft until the SKU scope, safety insert, support path, batch traveler, and reviewer signoff are approved.

Draft package-insert content

SteelThumb Grow Kit

20 grow bags organized as a first-season food guild, irrigation layout parts, PlotTags starter set, Tendril monitoring and bounded pump-control prep.

Before use

  • Confirm the installation area drains well and can hold 20 filled grow bags
  • Use GFCI-protected power for any pump or electronics
  • Keep a manual water shutoff available during setup and testing
  • Read the safety insert before powering any pump, relay, camera node, or outdoor electronics

Setup flow

  1. Place 20 grow bags according to the guild layout
  2. Fill bags with the customer-provided soil and compost mix
  3. Install mainline tubing, branch lines, emitters, and stakes
  4. Run a manual leak test before automation
  5. Place PlotTags for each bag, reservoir, and device
  6. Install Tendril where it can see the garden and monitor water state
  7. Run a bounded watering test while present
  8. Record first crop plan and planting dates

Do not assume

  • Soil, seeds, plants, reservoir, extension cords, GFCI hardware, or local electrical work are included
  • The kit guarantees yield, harvest volume, grocery savings, pest control, or plant survival
  • Pump automation may run unattended before leak, cutoff, unknown-state-off, and manual shutoff checks pass

Support checklist: 20-bag layout photo, irrigation manifold/reservoir photo, latest Tendril dashboard screenshot, and notes on leaks, missing parts, or unreadable PlotTags.

SeedPort

Standalone seed-starting workflow for tray flow, labels, humidity, airflow, lighting, hardening-off, and weekly progression from sowing to transplant.

Before use

  • Place SeedPort on a stable surface away from splash and heavy condensation
  • Confirm lighting and airflow devices are used within their rated limits
  • Keep water away from unsafe power connections
  • Read the safety insert before using powered lighting, airflow, heating, or controller components

Setup flow

  1. Assemble the tray-line or rack
  2. Add trays and optional humidity covers
  3. Place tray markers
  4. Add customer-provided seeds and grow media
  5. Record crop, variety, and planting date
  6. Move trays through germination, light, airflow, and hardening-off stages
  7. Transfer seedlings to the garden when ready

Do not assume

  • Seeds, grow media, fertilizer, lights, fans, controllers, or water-handling parts are included unless final SKU scope says so
  • SeedPort guarantees germination, transplant success, yield, or plant health
  • Powered accessories may be covered, modified, or used outside their rated limits

Support checklist: Assembled SeedPort photo, tray-label photo, seed-starting date, crop list, and notes on lighting, humidity, airflow, and transfer timing.

PlotTags

Physical garden marker/tag positions for bags, beds, rows, reservoirs, pumps, and device locations, plus placement and readability checks.

Before use

  • Choose stable placements that will not move during watering or timelapse
  • Avoid glare, shadows, splash zones, and private location details
  • Do not claim machine readability until a camera frame proves it
  • Do not place tags where they create a trip, puncture, snag, or tool hazard

Setup flow

  1. Assign tag IDs to bags, beds, rows, reservoir, and devices
  2. Mount tags flat enough for camera visibility
  3. Photograph the placed tag from normal human viewing distance
  4. Capture one Tendril-like camera frame
  5. Mark each tag readable, deferred, or rejected
  6. Replace or relocate unreadable tags

Do not assume

  • Final tag count, material, stake/clip hardware, ID range, or replacement-label path are frozen
  • PlotTags guarantee machine readability from every camera angle or lighting condition
  • Tags certify plant health, food safety, chemical exposure, harvest readiness, or disease status

Support checklist: Marker-sheet photo, placed-tag photo, camera frame with target tags visible, and notes on glare, blur, water exposure, or unreadable IDs.
