The Idea

More food, less work.

The question is simple: can I use AI coding agents to dramatically increase the output of my garden without increasing the amount of work for me and my family?

Constraints

  1. Self-hosted and local-first.
  2. Open source software and hardware where practical.
  3. Repairable and reproducible at home.
  4. No required subscription to control your garden.

How SteelThumb works

Human-led. Agent-assisted. Seed to table.

Grow bags and irrigation are the base system.

The first layer is practical: containers, lines, emitters, and a layout the app can understand. SteelThumb starts with a grow kit that makes the garden easier to place, water, inspect, and expand.

TLDR: AprilTags are basically QR codes for robots and machine vision nerds. SteelThumb uses them to give real garden parts stable visual IDs; open source printable models are coming soon.
